- Artificial Intelligence at NTID
As the premier technological college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, situated at RIT, a leading technology university, NTID is focused on harnessing the power and potential of AI to advance teaching, learning, research, and more, in support of our mission to provide the education and opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students that prepare them to live and work in the mainstream of a rapidly changing global community.
AI Task Force
The NTID AI Task Force brings together faculty, staff, alums, and external stakeholders to help shape the direction of NTID and the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in the AI space.
The task force convenes regularly to discuss the future of AI and make recommendations for how NTID can lead the way in application of AI for classroom tools, academic programming, research, and employment, and provide guidance on how AI impacts deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
Integrating AI Literacy Within Your Classes
Wednesday, August 26, 10-11 a.m.
CSD 1300/1310
Presented by Joan Naturale, NTID Librarian/DSA Liaison, RIT Libraries and Cindy Officer, Senior Lecturer, Liberal Studies, NTID.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming teaching and learning across higher education. This presentation introduces practical strategies for integrating AI literacy into NTID courses in ways that promote student learning, accessibility, and academic integrity.
Participants will explore how AI can serve as a learning scaffold to support brainstorming, research, organization, problem solving, critical thinking, and writing—while recognizing its limitations and encouraging responsible use. The session will also examine ways AI can improve access to information and help students critically evaluate AI-generated content.
Faculty will discuss classroom policies, assignment design, and practical examples of AI use across a variety of disciplines. Participants will leave with strategies, sample activities, and resources they can adapt to foster ethical, inclusive, and effective AI use in their own courses.
Interpreting services have been requested.
