Michelle Hu, AuD, CCC-A, is a pediatric audiologist, educator, and advocate dedicated to advancing care and connection for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) individuals and their families. With over 15 years of clinical experience, her work spans diagnostic audiology, hearing technology, cochlear implant evaluation and programming, and aural rehabilitation.

What uniquely shapes Michelle’s perspective is her lived experience as a hard-of-hearing individual. Fit with hearing aids at age three and now a bilateral cochlear implant user, she brings a dual lens-patient and professional-to her work. This perspective informs her commitment to improving not only clinical outcomes, but also the lived experiences of DHH individuals across developmental stages.

Michelle is the founder of Mama Hu Hears, a widely recognized platform and community that supports hearing parents of DHH children through education, storytelling, and advocacy. She is also the author/creator of My Child Has Hearing Loss, Now What?, a resource designed to guide families through the early and evolving stages of their child’s hearing journey with clarity and confidence.

Her work focuses on bridging gaps between clinical care and real-world experience, with particular attention to early identification, continuity of care, communication access, and family-centered decision-making. She is especially passionate about supporting underserved and underrepresented families and helping professionals better understand the long-term impact of their early interactions with patients and caregivers.

Through her clinical work, educational content, and speaking engagements, Michelle advocates for systems that are more responsive, inclusive, and aligned with the evolving needs of DHH individuals. She brings to the National Advisory Group a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and ensuring that both patient voice and clinical insight are represented in shaping the future of care and access.
