Abstract:
The Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) survey is a ground based optical time domain survey operating using a 55 square degree camera attached the 1.2 m Oschin Schmidt telescope at Palomar Observatory. ZTF has the largest field of view among all meter sized telescopes, and is specifically designed for fast and wide coverage of the visible sky. Here, he will talk about the observation of solar system objects using ZTF, including a dedicated system to search for fast moving objects, and a mini survey that is designed to look for objects in the near Sun sky.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Quanzhi Ye is a Visiting Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland. He earned his Ph.D . in astronomy from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, focusing on the interrelation between meteor showers, comets and asteroids, and then completed his postdoc at California Institute of Technology , working on solar system observations with the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF) and ZTF.
