Abstract
:

In this talk, Dr. Punzi will discuss her experiences in graduate school that helped shape her career path, as well as elaborate on the details of her job as an Observatory Manager and Instructor in Laboratory Science at Wellesley College, a small women's liberal arts college in New England. If you thought you were busy in graduate school, think again. Although she loves her job and find it extremely rewarding, it hasn't been smooth sailing. Dr. Punzi will discuss all the aspects of her strange joint appointment at Wellesley College, touching upon the highlights and the struggles, as well as the aspects of the job that she would never have expected to be part of her job description as a Ph.D in science.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Kristina Punzi obtained her Ph.D. in astrophysics from RIT in 2018. Dr. Punzi took advantage of many opportunities to explore alternate career paths; she organized the Imagine RIT exhibit for years, participated in a Congressional Visits Day for the AAS, became an Astronomy Ambassador for the AAS, and worked as an astronomy lab instructor. She started her job at Wellesley College as Observatory Manager and Instructor in Science Laboratory the week she got all of her signatures on her dissertation.
