In this webinar, Mr. Mateo Sokač '17 will explore the current and growing era of Big Data in Bioinformatics, specifically highlighting the big data sources found in DNA/RNA sequences, medical images, and medical tools. Taking into consideration that computing power is also exponentially growing, Mr. Sokač will review how we can use this information to learn a great deal for the future. He will also focus on how we are entering the world of Bioinformatics and personalized medicine and examine some of the new technologies developed in those fields from the perspective of computer science. Because these fields are interdisciplinary oriented, and impact people from all sectors, everyone is welcomed to join the webinar.

Mateo Sokač graduated from RIT Croatia in 2017 with a degree in Information Technology. After graduation, he combined his degree in technology with his passion for biology and medicine and went on to Aarhus University in Denmark to obtain a Masters in Bioinformatics. Currently, Mr. Sokač is serving as a Researcher at Aarhus while pursing a PhD in Molecular Medicine.
