Broadening Participation in STEM through Integrative Pathways
Dr. Gregory D. Goins is a Professor of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University, the largest HBCU in the nation. During his tenure as an educator at NCA&T, he has been awarded with over $10 million in extramural grant funding, focused on broadening participation in STEM careers. He currently is a member of the NIH TWD-D study section responsible for reviewing MARC, RISE, IRACDA and Bridges to the Doctorate Programs. He served as a NSF Program Director in the Division of Undergraduate Education for the IUSE, S-STEM, and Robert T. Noyce Programs. Dr. Goins’ seminar will focus on how to best align research training opportunities with colleges and universities having substantial enrollments of minorities such as African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans/Alaska. Dr. Goins also will share effective mechanisms which have increased the number and competitiveness of underrepresented minorities engaged in biomedical research.
