Brown Bag Faculty Lecture: Carlos Caballero-Perez
Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez, professor in the School for American Crafts, is presenting as part of the College of Art and Design's weekly Brown Bag Faculty Lecture Series. His talk is scheduled for noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, in William Harris Conference Room (Gannett Hall, 2155). The lecture is titled "A Personal Narrative: Searching my Cultural Identity through the Creation of Jewelry." Caballero-Perez is a recipient of a New York State Foundation of the Arts Fellowship and a Craft Alliance of New York State Career Development Grant. His work can be seen in several publications, including On Body and Soul: Contemporary Armor to Amulets, Breaking Ground: A Century of Craft Art in Western NY and 500 Bracelets.His one-of-a-kind pieces consist of jewelry and large-scale public sculpture, including along Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts’ ArtWalk and in front of the Pieters Family Life Center in Henrietta. In May of 2019, a nearly 12-foot sculpture designed by Carlos was unveiled as the first commission for the Fairport Public Art Trail along the Erie Canal in Fairport, N.Y.View the full semester schedule for the Brown Bag Faculty Lecture Series.
