Brown Bag Faculty Lecture: Lara Cardoso Goulart

Lara Cardoso Goulart, visiting lecturer in RIT's School of Design, is presenting as part of the College of Art and Design's weekly Brown Bag Faculty Lecture Series. Her talk, titled "Do we Share the Same Language," is scheduled for noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in William Harris Conference Room (Gannett Hall, 2155).

Having majored in both graphic and product design at the University of Brasilia has molded her into an interdisciplinary designer who deals with problems through a holistic approach.

She earned her MFA in Industrial Design at RIT and returned to share her broad experience in her hometown in Brazil. There, she evolved her thesis project into the creation of her first startup Eba, which allowed her to develop business skills. She was also involved with UnaSmart, another startup that was selected for the Startup bootcamp in Italy, where she spent an immersive time developing their product and its business aspects. Her ability to communicate and share her vision has led her to participate in many startup competitions, collecting awards in Italy, China and Brazil. She is a strong advocate for designers to develop business skills so that their creations provide uniqueness and real value to users.

She also founded innovative initiatives in Brazil, such as the Design Thinking for the kindergartens’ course and the Design Thinking for Educators workshop. Her current areas of research and interest include the impact of product design on physical and remote relationships, educational trends, lifelong learning and play.
