CANCELLED: Alumni Lecture: Celebrity Photographer Kwaku Alston '94
Please note that this event has been cancelled.
Kwaku Alston ’94 (Photographic Illustration), who has photographed some of the most famous faces of our time, is delivering a lecture at 6 p.m. Friday, March 20, in MAGIC Spell Studios’ Wegmans Theater.
The event is part of the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences' Charles Arnold Lecture Series.
Alston has captured the portraits of Oscar and Grammy winners, Barack and Michelle Obama, LeBron James and Nelson Mendela, among others, during his distinguished career. His work has appeared in publications such as Essence, The New York Times and Time. His client list also includes the likes of Disney, ESPN and Target. Alston photographed the promotional material for popular films “Black Panther” and the 2019 live-action adaptation of “The Lion King.”
His portraits are fresh and celebrate his extraordinary subjects, striking a balance between contemporary documentary photography and classic celebrity portraiture.
