CANCELLED: Brown Bag Faculty Lecture: Emily Glass

Please note this event is cancelled

Emily Glass, senior lecturer in RIT's School of Art, is presenting as part of the College of Art and Design's weekly Brown Bag Faculty Lecture Series. Her talk, titled "The Rotting and the Vibrant," is scheduled for noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in William Harris Conference Room (Gannett Hall, 2155).

Glass specializes in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in drawing and painting. She received a BFA from the SUNY Potsdam and an MFA in painting from Kansas State University.

Panoramic oil paintings to small-scale charcoal drawings make up the current boundaries of Glass' work. Topics of exploration include food and privilege, explorations of identity as a home owner and deletions from our daily life.

As of 2015, Glass has shifted into more plant-based work and is exploring the significance of what plants do or do not make in our daily routines. Is a piece of arugula liberal, provocative and privileged, or is it a basic kitchen salad? The politics and class systems of a garden have become a point of investigation.
