Cary Pressroom

Letterpress printing education is strong at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection through our Technology Collection of some 30 working vintage presses and thousands of fonts of metal and wood type. Visit with us online to learn how we preserve these letterpress artifacts through continued use. A live printing demonstration and spirited Q/A session are sure to make an “impression.”

Amelia Fontanel is associate curator at the RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection, and a proud alumna of the School of Printing Management and Sciences. As manager of the Cary Technology Collection, she is responsible for RIT’s vintage printing equipment. She is actively involved in the national letterpress community, holding board positions with the American Printing History Association and the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum.
