CLA Center for Statesmanship, Law, and Liberty presentsPeter BergenTopic: The Challenges of Statesmanship in a Global AgePeter Bergen is a print, television and web journalist, documentary producer, think tank director, and the author of four books, three of which were New York Times bestsellers and three of which were named among the non-fiction books of the year by the Washington Post. The books have been turned into three documentaries, two of which were nominated for Emmys and one of which won an Emmy.Along with other positions at Arizona State University, he is the co-director of the Center on the Future of War; CNN_s national security analyst and a fellow at Fordham University_s Center on National Security. Bergen has testified before multiple congressional committees about Afghanistan, Pakistan, al-Qaeda, drones and other terrorism-related issues. He has held teaching where he taught graduate students courses in his areas of expertise: Al-Qaeda and allied groups and U.S. national security. Bergen is currently writing a book about _homegrown_ terrorism, which HBO is basing a forthcoming film on.His most recent book, a New York Times bestseller, is Manhunt: The Ten Year Search for Bin Laden, from 9/11 to Abbottabad. The book was translated into eight languages and HBO produced a documentary based upon it. The film, for which Bergen is the executive producer, won the Emmy for best documentary in 2013. The Washington Post, named Manhunt one of the best non-fiction books of 2012 and The Guardian named it one of the key books on Islamist extremism.
