 CENTER FOR STATESMANSHIP LECTURE SERIES presents Stephen WrinnDirector, University of Notre Dame Press Thursday, April 25thCampus CenterReading Room (2050)1:00 p.m. “DEMYSTIFYING SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING WORKSHOP”Steve Wrinn is the current Director of the University of Notre Dame Press. Prior to his arrival at Notre Dame, Wrinn was Director of the University Press of Kentucky for nearly 14 years, where he supervised all aspects of planning, acquisitions, production, marketing, and print and electronic distribution of approximately 60 new books and 20 paperback reprints annually. Wrinn previously was editorial vice president and executive editor of history and political science for Rowman & Littlefield Publishers and editorial director of Lexington Books. While there, he managed the purchase and assimilation of Lexington Books from Simon & Schuster into Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group. As Director at UNDP, Wrinn is responsible for formulating and implementing the Press’ mission and strategic plan and overseeing progress towards its goals.This workshop will discuss the following topics: -The current state and economics of scholarly publishing -Demystifying the process of finding the right publisher -Insight on what editors are thinking when they make publishing decisions -Turning dissertations into books -Identifying appropriate publishers for your manuscript -Creating a cover letter and proposal that will attract an editor's attention -What to expect when you are offered a contract There will be ample time for Q & A. Interpreters provided upon request subject to availability.Please make your request today by going to Access.rit.ed
