Charles Arnold Lecture: Estevan Oriol
RIT's School of Photographic Arts and Sciences welcomes legendary hip-hop photographer Estevan Oriol for its Charles Arnold Lecture Series. He will deliver a talk at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in Wegmans Theater (MAGIC Spell Studios). It's free and open to the public.
About Estevan Oriol
Los Angeles photographer Estevan Oriol is one of the most sought-out photographers of the hip-hop community. His work features dozens of prominent artists, including Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Blink 182, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Adrien Brody, Ryan Gosling and Forrest Whitaker, among many others, and his images have been featured in dozens of magazines worldwide including The Source, Details, Vibe, The Fader, and Rolling Stone.
In addition to his work producing music videos for Cypress Hill, D12, Linkin Park, and Blink 182, Oriol recently released two documentaries, LA Originals on Netflix and Cypress Hill: Insane In The Brain on Showtime.
He is also widely respected for his photojournalism work that captures the raw essence of street life told through the tattoo art world, low rider culture and the hip-hop community. He has published five sold-out books — 1979, L.A. Woman, L.A. Portraits, This Is Los Angeles, and Bosozoku.
