Chinese Sign Language Digital Exhibit
This digital exhibit runs through to May 24th. Take a break and a look at this video art exhibit of Chinese Sign Language! Li Rong, known as Raffia, is a theatre artist, social innovator, and poet, based in Beijing. In her diverse projects, you could find a consistency, which is the imagination and exploration of boundaries, and public participation. Her working spaces are not limited to art museums or theaters, but ranging from hutongs to public squares. In recent years, her works and art projects are closely connected with community engagement. She is currently working with the Deaf community in Beijing, using different art forms to raise the awareness of Chinese Sign Language, help build the community, and make their voice truly heard. Her first sign language theatre piece Ripples in Me was chosen to have its premiere in Wuzhen Theatre Festival Youth Unit in October,2018. Co-creators on LISTEN, WE HAVE IT ALL: The Shape of Language is the first Deaf art group in China which has been developing diverse art projects through the exploration of sign language and shadow theatre to engage the public and establish equal dialogue and connection.
