A Conversation with Federal Reserve Bank of NY President/CEO

As President of the New York Fed, Mr. Williams serves as the vice chair and a permanent voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Federal Reserve’s monetary policymaking body. Prior to joining the New York Fed in 2018, he was the president and CEO of the San Francisco Fed. He began his career in 1994 as an economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and also has served as a senior economist in the White House Council of Economic Advisers and as a lecturer at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Its mission is to make the U.S. economy stronger and the financial system more stable for all segments of society. The New York Fed’s responsibilities include executing monetary policy, providing financial services, supervising banks, and providing thought leadership on issues that impact the nation and communities it serves.
