Anxiety has clever a way of making itself comfortable in our daily lives. Whether it leaves us in constant worry or experiencing full-blown panic attacks, anxiety can impact our ability to reach our full potential. Beliefs about anxiety can be grounded in having a discomfort with novelty, the unfamiliar. This can make it difficult to cope with the unexpected, or be comfortable in uncontrollable situations. This workshop empowers individuals to break these patterns of thinking in order to increase tolerance of uncertainty through creative drama and improvisation. The goal of this workshop is to challenge anxiety by tapping into one’s creative potential in order to cultivate self-awareness and self-expression. Workshop participants will participate and perform in experiential activities in a safe and structured environment that provides an opportunity to revise and re-regulate emotional experiences related to anxiety. Ultimately, the goal is for individuals to enhance their creativity, emotional flexibility, and originality. About JaimeJaime is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at CaPS and Embedded within the College of Science here at RIT. In addition, Jaime has been an improviser for 15 years and studied and performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York. This workshop is comprised of two 3-hour meetings. Due to the collaborative nature and short-term duration of the workshop, participants must be able to attend both occurrences. Space is limited, reserve your spot!
