Engaging Students in Large Format Classrooms

In this session, we will investigate the many possibilities of active student-centered learning in a large classroom. While lecture has its place, collaborative and non-collaborative techniques have proven to accelerate and deepen learning in classrooms with over 100 students, and importantly, maintain individual accountability among students. We will also investigate solutions to common challenges of leading a large classroom, as we look forward to a workshop in October.

About the Presenter: Andy Gerhart, PhD, is an Assistant Department Chair and Professor of Mechanical, Robotics, and Industrial Engineering at Lawrence Technological University. Dr. Gerhart facilitates workshops worldwide on active learning. Learn more about Dr. Gerhart
