Join our university-museum partner, Genesee Country Village & Museum to honor Juneteenth, considered the oldest celebration of the end of enslavement in the United States – and an official state holiday here in New York. Follow the history of emancipation as you explore our 19th-century Village! Delve into new interpretation of the Nathaniel Rochester House, experience culinary traditions, explore the story of Black entrepreneur and Rochesterian Austin Steward, and so much more! Plus, don’t miss RIT Professor Richard Newman’s talk “"Furthering Freedom: Emancipation Day Celebrations and the Civil Rights Struggle in Late-19th-Century American Society,” at 1 p.m. in Brooks Grove Church!

RIT Faculty, Staff, and Students and their families are FREE! Show RIT ID at Admission Desk of the Museum.
