GIS Day Mapathon – Disaster Response and Humanitarian Mapping
Abstract: Learn how to make the world a better place through the power of maps and humanitarian mapping, hear from guest speakers in the geospatial disaster response field, and bring a tablet, computer, or smartphone for hands-on mapping experience!
Enjoy guest speaker presentations including EagleView’s Cody Cottrell speaking about the company’s Disaster Response Program and the role Geomatics plays in it, and RIT’s Brian Tomaszewski speaking about his and other RIT students’ work mapping and quantifying the natural disaster resilience of displaced people in Rwanda. We will also talk about the importance of crisis mapping and host a mapathon using OSM technology. All are welcome to attend!
