Gone Home: The (Dis)Enchantment of the Mundane

Neither walking simulator nor survival horror, the 2013 indie game Gone Home defies easy classification. This talk will focus on media archaeology, genre subversion, and the disruption of game mechanics, which work together to direct the player into an unexpected position of radical empathy.
