Internationally acclaimed artist Gregory Halpern, professor in RIT's School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, is delivering a lecture in tandem with his exhibition "19 Winters/7 Springs," on view through March 3 in the Project Gallery at the George Eastman Museum. The talk is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.

The event is free for members and students. Non-members and non-students can purchase tickets for $10. They can also be purchased at the door.

Halpern's exhibition is the result of two decades of grappling with the idea of his hometown of Buffalo — a profound rumination on history, the passage of time, the experience of contemporary life, and, above all, what it means to dwell in a particular place. For his lecture, Halpern will reflect on this body of work in light of his other projects that have looked at the complexity of places as disparate as Southern California, Omaha, Nebraska, and the Caribbean archipelago of Guadeloupe.

There will be a book signing and time to explore the gallery after the talk.
