RIT Study Abroad is providing the opportunity for students to learn technical skills of manga right in the birthplace of the comic and graphic novel style originating in Japan. The Manga in Japan faculty-led program is holding an info session for those interested in taking the class from 5-5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in Gannett Hall, 2070.

The program allows students to meet and network with industry professionals in Japan while having access to an exclusive manga competition. It involves a spring semester drawing course, followed by summer travel to Japan (June 11-24, 2026). The program is led by Kofi Bazzell-Smith, future faculty fellow in the College of Art and Design and the first professor of manga practice in the U.S.

The class is open to all majors – third- and fourth-year undergraduate students, plus graduate students, may apply. Learn more on the Study Abroad website.
