Free and confidential mental health screening and consultation with a professional counselor in honor of World Mental Health Day and National Depression Screening Day. Mental Health Screening Day is an annual campaign to bring public attention to the critical needs of students living with depression and other mental health disorders. Depression, and anxiety are the top concerns students are presenting with at RIT’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Similar to many physical illnesses, early recognition and treatment offers the best opportunity for recovery from mental illness. Our goal for this event is to connect students with the many resources available on campus and in our surrounding community to promote mental and emotional health, prevent the development of more serious mental health concerns, and connect those who are already experiencing challenging mental health concerns with the support and services they will benefit from. During Mental Health Screening Day, students will have access to complete a free confidential mental health screening that will be scored by a trained professional counselor from Counseling and Psychological Services. All students will have the opportunity to meet confidentially with a counselor, on site, for a brief consultation to discuss their screening results and resources that could be most helpful to them based on their individualized wants/needs. Students may also attend the event to connect with resources available on and off campus without completing a mental health screening.
