National Suicide Prevention Week - Fresh Check Day
Suicide prevention and mental health are hot topics on campuses across the US today, and always. RIT is no different. Please join the campus in supporting our third annual National Suicide Prevention Week. This year’s theme is Connection is Prevention.Effective suicide prevention is layered and requires connection with self, each other, resources, and community. We can all play a role through the power of connection by having real conversations about mental health, sitting with someone new at lunch, reminding someone that they’re great or letting someone know about resources within our community – it only takes one moment to make a connection.Fresh Check Day: Fresh Check Day, the signature program of the Jordan Porco Foundation, is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and helps to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally.
