Into the ROC: Dough & Dialogue

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Into the ROC! In partnership with the Rochester Brainery, we're heading to the Commissary to learn how to make sweet and savory empanadas from Chef Christin Ortiz.

We will be hosting two sessions, so take note of the session times. Buses will depart from the Sentinel Statue promptly at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

From the Rochester Brainery website:
Most cultures have their own version of a dish that features meat or cheese wrapped in dough; whether it’s pierogi, dumplings, or ravioli. Latin America’s answer is the empanada! In this class, you will learn how to make both meat and sweet empanadas as well as your own dough. Students will have a hands-on learning experience and leave with all the recipes created in class.

Visit myaccess.rit.edu to request interpreter or captioning services.

Please note: Please bring an apron to class with you or wear clothes you don't mind cooking in. If you would like to request that a gluten-free or vegetarian option be made available for class, please fill let us know a week in advance. At this time, a vegan option is unavailable for this class. The Commissary is not an allergen-free environment.
