Tour Grieve's Brewery - America's only fully-functional, 19th-century brewery - then explore demonstrations of vintage agricultural equipemnt - threshing, corn shelling and cider pressing - on the Village Square. Visit GCV&M's own Museum of Oddities inspired by P.T. Barnum's American Museum in New York City. Inside you will see wonders from around the world, be immersed in the sounds of the circus by Terry Fyke’s Main Street Players, and you may even run into the famous showman himself! As was common at 19th-century fairs, the men's base ball teams will square off for the Mayor’s Cup Championship trophy. Both games will be held in Silver Base Ball Park, the only replica 1800s base ball park in the nation. GCV&M's ladies' base ball hosts the final game of the season on Sunday at 12:30 pm on the Great Meadow.A returning favorite, the 4th Annual Cast Iron Chef Competition will take place Saturday on the Great Meadow! Starting at 10 am three skilled chefs are given an open fire, period-appropriate receipts (recipes) and heirloom produce from the museum's gardens with which to prepare historical dishes. Our defending champion, Gary Giusti of Wegmans, squares off against challengers Eric Smith, owner of Original Stumpblower Ciderworks, and Paul Tweksbury, U.S. Navy retired.
