Script Tease: The Antipodes
The Antipodes by Annie Baker
Directed by Dr. Kelley Holley
September 28, 2025, 7:30pm
Sklarsky Glass Box Theater, SHED
Rochester Institute of Technology
In an ordinary conference room, a group of people have gathered to tell stories as the world ends. They order lunch, they work their way through a giant stack of sparkling water, they tell their deepest secrets, they make each other laugh, they theorize what makes a good story. All in a day’s work. Or is it weeks? Part satire, part sacred rite, The Antipodes asks, what’s the value of storytelling in a time of crisis?

SCRIPT TEASE: Staged Readings and Play Development Series
This stripped-down performance style puts raw acting choices at center stage. Performers will be cast from joint auditions at the beginning of each semester and will be joined by a team of student stage managers, lighting and sound designers, and dramaturgs. For each play, a focused rehearsal period will lead up to the public performance taking place in the Glass Box Theater where performers will have scripts-in-hand for our first two readings, and then be a part of a more fully produced show for our final developmental play collaboration with Farm Theatre. After the reading, audiences are welcome to stay for our post-show dialogue to deepen their engagement with the script. Interpreters and captions will be provided. Performances are free to the public.
