Over the past 35 years, Dr. Padden has published papers on a range of topics including Deaf culture, sign language linguistics, gesture and ethics. Dr. Padden is a past Guggenheim Fellow and a MacArthur Foundation Fellow. She will be interviewed by Dr. Benjamin Bergen, a professor of Cognitive Science at UCSD and director for Research Initiatives in the UCSD Division of Social Sciences.

Signing Science: Academic Leadership in Deaf Spaces is a series of interviews with research leaders who have founded successful research programs that include, develop and promote deaf students, trainees, staff and faculty. Through these interviews, we hope to promote thought and discussion about what it means to be a deaf-centered research leader across a range of academic disciplines.

Interpreters and captioning have been requested. This session will be recorded.
This series of interviews was made possible through a Provost’s Leadership Opportunity Grant from the Office of the Provost at RIT. For more information, contact Matthew Dye (mwddls@rit.edu).
