Small Changes, Big Impact: Practical Classroom Access Tips
Wednesday, October 1, 2025
2-3 p.m.
CSD 1300/1310
Presented by Kristen Starin, Sr Speech/Language Professional, NTID Communication Studies & Services
RIT is home to students, faculty, and staff with a wide range of communication modalities and preferences. This workshop will share quick, practical ways to make classrooms more accessible using built-in features of tools many instructors already rely on. Demonstrations will show how to use automatic speech recognition in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Zoom, and TigerChat, along with simple hardware like USB mini microphones. These strategies are designed to benefit all instructors, whether or not you use spoken communication yourself, by supporting student access, interaction, and expression. Time will be provided for hands-on exploration and questions.
Interpreting services have been requested.

This is co-sponsored as a Spoken Communication Techniques and Strategies (SCTS) Series Presentation.
