The Stan McKenzie Salon Series presents "Irresponsible Ai: Why Artificial Intelligence is Broken and How Liberal Arts Can Help Fix It"

FEATURING MUHAMMAD AHMAD

Dominant discussions of artificial intelligence (AI) vacillate between two opposing narratives. On the one hand, advances in AI frequently are depicted as poised to transform society positively. On the other hand, widespread discussions of technical limitations and high-profile covered failures imply the promise of AI is greatly exaggerated. In this talk, Muhammad will identify a promising path forward for developing, implementing, and regulating AI. He'll make a case, filled with real-world examples, that what's needed are more multi-disciplinary collaborations that focus on socio-technical systems and combine the strengths of Liberal Arts and computer science disciplines.
