Vision of Sound
Society for New Music presents
Vision of Sound
Saturday, February 21
Sklarsky Glass Box Theater, SHED
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Vision of Sound, a dynamic concert series that has become a cornerstone of artistic innovation in New York State. The festival uniquely fuses contemporary music, dance, and digital media, creating truly integrated artistic experiences that push the boundaries of traditional performance.
Presented by the Society for New Music, Vision of Sound has built an impressive legacy over two decades, fostering collaborations with prestigious institutions including the Eastman School of Music, The College at Brockport, Rochester Institute of Technology, Colgate University, Hamilton College, and Cornell University. The festival has become more than just a performance series—it serves as a catalyst for ongoing artistic partnerships and cross-disciplinary innovation throughout Central New York.
Each year, the festival features new works by distinguished composers from across Central New York, with each composition paired with original choreography by regional dance artists. This collaborative approach not only showcases exceptional artistic talent but also creates valuable professional development opportunities and networking connections that extend well beyond the performances themselves.
