Session 2: The Year of Open Work in Academia. What’s Happened, What’s Next and How does it Impacts You and Your Work?
The official name is “Year of Open Science,” because the original idea came from NASA, but much of it affects Academic disciplines in the Arts, Humanities and other sectors as well. This Director Jacobs and Associate Director Nolan have had meetings with, or been invited to Summit meetings at, The White House, the United Nations, CERN and ones sponsored by The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, NASA, the Open Source Initiative and others. We’ll cover the high points of these meetings and look at what’s next.
These sessions have proven to be an excellent time for us to build connections and further discuss with the RIT community about the far-reaching implications and opportunities in Open Work. This town hall series will continue through the spring semester, covering high-level and concentrated topics within Open. If there are specific areas of interest you believe would benefit from a wider conversation, please reach out, so we can include it in our program.
