100 Year Exhibition Opens Photo Centennial Celebration at RIT May 1
Three-day event commemorates 100 years of photographic education
A one-of-a-kind exhibition highlights a festive tribute to 100 years of image-makers at Rochester Institute of Technology—ranked nationally among the top providers of photographic education.
The 100 Year Exhibition takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, on RIT’s Henrietta campus. Photographs submitted by RIT alumni, students, faculty and staff comprise this "clothesline" exhibition displayed throughout the Frank E. Gannett Building. While viewing this historical display of RIT photographic talent, guests are invited to examine the university’s modern facilities, which feature some of the latest advances in digital imaging.
RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences sponsors the exhibition as its kickoff to One Hundred Years of Photography at RIT—a series of activities on campus and throughout the Rochester area May 1-3. Highlights include a presentation by Daniel A. Carp, chairman and CEO of Eastman Kodak Co. His speech is at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 2, in RIT’s Webb Auditorium, James E. Booth Building. The schedule culminates with a commemorative gala the evening of Saturday, May 3.
Alumni and former faculty from RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences are among the participants in this three-day celebration—offering guests reunion opportunities while providing a forum to examine current trends in photographic education and the profession.
Activities for this centennial celebration are made possible through the support of Kodak.
