For Hire: RIT Women’s Basketball Players

Know any young basketball players looking for one-on-one instruction in the driveway from a college player? Or know a child who needs tutoring from a student athlete? Perhaps you simply need spring cleaning around the house, ranging from window washing to yard work.

Whatever the chore, the RIT women’s basketball team is ready to help. The Tigers have taken giant steps the past three years under Coach Debbie Buff and they have been invited to the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout. The Division III tournament will be held Dec. 17-21 in Nassau. But to get there, the Tigers need to raise nearly $20,000 for airline, hotel and other accommodations.

“RIT has taken great strides the past three years with Coach Buff, and this is an opportunity that we would like to capitalize on,” said co-captain Chrissy Ermie, a third-year mechanical engineering student from Johnstown, N.Y.

“The tournament will be good visibility for our basketball program, as well as RIT,” added co-captain Ramata Diallo, a second-year electrical engineering technology major from Fairfax, Va.

The Tigers will be available for work every weekend (Friday-Sunday) now through May 15. For three hours of work, the cost is $40 per player or $70 for two players. Shorter jobs will require $15 per hour. The players will provide their own transportation. To rent a player, contact Coach Buff at 475-5666, or e-mail: HelpAHooper@yahoo.com

RIT will also host the Lady Tiger Basketball Camp June 27-July 1 for girls in grades 5 through 12. Proceeds will also assist in the trip to the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout. For details on the camp, including a registration form, visit: www.ritathletics.com
