Lake Beverage President Bernie Schroeder Discusses Engineering Career Options

Industrial engineering alumnus leads Dean’s Lecture Series Nov. 5

The 2009–2010 Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series continues with Bernie Schroeder, a 1980 graduate of the college and currently the president and general manager of Lake Beverage Corp.

Schroeder will present “Your Engineering Degree—You’ve Only Just Begun” at 1 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Xerox Auditorium in the James E. Gleason Building. Schroeder will discuss the variety of career choices open to engineering students and the different options they have to balance work and personal life. The program is free and open to the public.

Schroeder grew up the Rochester and graduated from RIT with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. Upon graduation, he worked for Eastman Kodak on many department and division-wide projects. He earned his MBA from the University of Rochester in 1985 and then went to work for Lake Beverage Corp. in 1986. The company, located in Henrietta, is the largest area distributor of beers and spirits, including Anheuser-Busch products, Budweiser and Bud Light.

In addition to being part of a number of beer industry organizations at the state and national level, Schroeder has been active in the Rochester community, having served on former Mayor Bill Johnson’s Small and Medium Business Roundtable. He currently serves on the Industrial Advisory Board for the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
