Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT Hosts Free Lectures
Summer seminars will be held on July 10, July 24 and Aug. 7
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology, formerly “The Athenaeum,” is hosting a series of three free lectures with notable guest speakers during Summer Seminars 2007. New participants as well as members—ages 50 and over—are invited to attend the sessions, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
➢Tuesday, July 10: Michael Lasser, host of WXXI’s national syndicated program, Fascinatin’ Rhythm and co-author of America’s Songs. His topic “I Promise You a Happy Ending” highlights the shows and songs of Jerry Herman.
➢Tuesday, July 24: David Owens, Captain of the Canandaigua Lady, will lecture on the history of steamboats and paddleboats on Canandaigua Lake and specifically, the Canandaigua Lady. In addition, Carla DeMeco, from the Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum, will talk about the history and furnishings of the Granger Museum and life in Canandaigua 190 years ago.
➢Tuesday, Aug. 7: Susan Nurse, an archivist at the Memorial Art Gallery, will lecture on East Aurora and the Roycroft Movement. Also, Lynn Kinsella, tour director of the Fisher-Price Toy Museum, will speak about the toy collection at the museum.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT, formerly The Athenaeum, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary as an academic-style learning center for adults over 50.
