    The men’s lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 for the first time in the program’s 47-year history with 380 points and all 19 first-place votes, after a thrilling 15-14 come-from-behind overtime win versus top ranked and defending National Champion Stevenson University on Feb. 22.

    Comedian John Oliver highlighted the FreezeFest weekend on Feb. 22. Oliver is best known for his role as writer and correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Opening for Oliver was Brooks Wheelan of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. The annual event celebrated the winter season with more than 30 activities on campus.

    Gregory Heyworth, director of The Lazarus Project and the featured speaker for the College of Liberal Arts’ Digital Humanities Speaker Series, spent some time on campus with students and visiting the Cary Graphic Arts Collection prior to his Feb. 20 talk. His talk addressed the latest spectral imaging techniques used by scientists at The Lazarus Project to restore illegible documents that were formerly thought to be lost to history.

    The Gene Polisseni Center construction is progressing inside. The arena will be the home of the men's and women's hockey teams and is expected to be open for play in fall 2014. The women's team hopes to sell out its final regular-season home game at Ritter on Friday.
