Deaf and hearing dancers from RIT/NTID Performing Arts perform Leaves of the Poetry Tree Feb. 21-24 in Robert F. Panara Theatre. Using inspiration found in children’s stories and poetry books, this family-friendly dance production directed by Nicole Hood Cruz addresses issues and challenges that we all face, such as bullying, fear, death, racial differences, gender identity, dreams, and equality.

Laura Discavage, third-year industrial engineering from Rochester, N.Y. and Victor Braescu, sixth-year mechanical engineering from Sacramento, CA., make fleece blankets to donate to Project Linus, an organization that provides comforting blankets to children who have had hardships or illnesses. RIT was one of many universities and companies joining in the annual National Engineers Week festivities to highlight the innovative work done by engineers.

Students in the Functional Printing course in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering participated in a demonstration of fine line screen printing for electronic applications presented by Yasuhiro Morotomi of the Japanese company, Asada Mesh. The demonstration was held in RIT’s AMPrint Center and was one of the many corporate-academic collaborations taking place in the center featuring aspects of multi-functional print technology. Corporate partners from Sun Chemical, Chromaline Screen Print Products, Tapecon Inc., Eastman Kodak and ASM Assembly Systems also were on hand to learn more about the growing industry process of electronic printing.

Max Root, a first-year biotechnology student from Baldwinsville, N.Y., donates blood during the #WeChallengeU campaign. Dozens of RIT students are donating blood and participating in a challenge with UR students. A second drive is scheduled on March 21.

The RIT Photojournalism Class of 2019 capstone videos will be shown 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14, at the MAGIC Spell Studios Theater. An artists’ talk with the students will follow the screening.
