The program is designed to broaden other treatment and rehabilitation services and to encourage participants who are recovering from mental illness or substance abuse disorders to pursue educational goals to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. Classes include wellness, Chinese, team building, dance, physics and more.

RIT’s 20th annual Retirees Picnic was held June 6 in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. More than 500 retired faculty and staff attended the event, which also recognized four distinguished retirees who continue to serve the RIT and greater Rochester communities. Honorees, from left to right, are Bob Baker, former director of NTID’s Dyer Arts Center; James DeCaro, professor emeritus and former interim president of NTID; and T. Alan Hurwitz, former NTID president. Also honored was David McCloskey, retired sign language interpreter, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
