Plastic Surgeon and Renowned Fine Arts Photographer Gives Lecture at RIT, April 13
Real life plastic surgeon and photographer, David Teplica, M.D., MFA, has built a career helping people fix their perceived flaws and imperfections. Dr. Teplica returns to Rochester Institute of Technology to present the free lecture Surgical Manipulation and Genetic Pleasures at7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science auditorium. Teplica, who photographs all of his patients, will discuss how both science and art play key roles in his surgical process.
Teplica, a Chicago-based photographer whose work has been displayed worldwide, brought his black-and-white photography exhibit Rapture, addressing love in the era of AIDS, to RIT in 1996. Prior to that, another of Teplica’s exhibits focusing on young burn victims came to campus as part of the national Children’s Burn Awareness Program. Teplica also has a passion for photographing twins. The New Yorker and the Associated Press have both featured Teplica and his twins work.
