Public Invited to RIT Annual Student Crafts Sale

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: DEC. 9 & 10

For those people looking for unusual holiday gifts—the annual School for American Crafts (SAC) student sale at Rochester Institute of Technology is the place to shop. The sale is from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Dec. 9 and 10, in the Student Alumni Union on the RIT campus.

The crafts include ceramics, blown glass ornaments, wood creations, and jewelry. All of the items are handmade and the original work of student artists. The annual holiday tradition draws hundreds of shoppers.

Many of the SAC students, from first-year to graduate level, rely on the sale to defray costs of various projects throughout the school year. About 25 students will have their crafts for sale.

Rochester Institute of Technology is internationally recognized as a leader in computing, engineering, imaging technology, fine and applied arts, and education of the deaf. More than 15,300 full- and part-time students are enrolled in RIT's 340 career-oriented and professional programs, and its cooperative education program is one of the oldest and largest in the nation.

For well over a decade, U.S. News and World Report has ranked RIT among the nation's leading comprehensive universities. The Princeton Review recognizes RIT as one of America's “Most Wired Campuses,” and the university is also featured in The Fiske Guide to Colleges and Barron's Best Buys in Education.
