RIT Formula Team Captures 16th Place Among 111 Challengers in Formula SAE
Rochester Institute of Technology’s Formula SAE team earned 16th place among 111 teams in the 2005 Formula SAE collegiate design and racing competition, May 18-22, in Pontiac, Mich.
RIT captured second place in the sales presentation category and sixth place for engineering design. The team garnered top-20 finishes in the cost and skid-pad contests and earned $300 for a third-place finish in the Society of Plastics Engineers Composites Division Award challenge for the most innovative use of polymer-matrix composites.
The Formula SAE competition, coinciding with event sponsor SAE International’s centennial anniversary, took place in the Pontiac Silverdome. Other sponsors include DaimlerChrysler Corp., Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp.
RIT’s Formula team has competed in Formula SAE competitions every year since 1993.
