RIT Formula Team Captures 5th Place in Formula SAE Australasia

Rochester Institute of Technology's Formula SAE racecar team captured fifth place in the annual Formula SAE Australasia Dec. 2-5 near Melbourne.

Competing in the contest for the fifth consecutive year, RIT earned first place in the cost report category, second place for acceleration, fourth place for presentation, fifth place for design, and sixth place in the endurance/fuel economy competition. In addition, RIT received the PBR Brake Award for the best designed braking system. RIT was one of only two teams from the United States in the contest, held at Victoria University Driver Training Facility in Werribee.

RIT's fifth-place standing overall earned the team $1,000 and matched last year's finish in the event. RIT captured first place in 2001. RIT has participated in Formula competitions every year since 1993.

The Formula SAE Australasia was sponsored by SAE-Australasia, Holden Ltd., Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp.
