RIT Formula Team Earns Third Place in Formula SAE Australasia
International competition is RIT team’s second of the year
Rochester Institute of Technology’s Formula racecar team earned third place in the annual Formula SAE Australasia competition, Dec. 5–8, in Carrum Downs, Victoria, Australia. RIT’s engineering college, sponsor of the Formula team, is among the top 10 in the nation.
In the third consecutive year of RIT participation in the event, eight RIT students and advisor Alan Nye, professor of mechanical engineering, made the trip to "the land down under." The team finished second in acceleration and cost report categories.
The contest was RIT’s second international competition this year. In July, RIT placed third in the annual Formula Student Competition in Leicester, England. RIT has competed in Formula competitions yearly since 1993.
The Formula SAE Australasia was sponsored by SAE-Australasia, Holden Ltd., Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi.
