RIT Students Compete for 'Dream Internship' with ESPN, Oct. 7

Imagine sharing a work environment with legendary broadcasters like Chris Berman and Dan Patrick. Sound like a sports lover’s dream? Soon, that opportunity will become reality for one creative student at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Three student finalists have been selected to compete in the Disney/ESPN Dream Internship Competition at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, in the RITz Sports Zone, located on the lower level of RIT’s Student Alumni Union.

The contestants—Corey Axelrod, Katie Grenga and Jocelyn Milliman—will each have up to 15 minutes to present a marketing strategy that emphasizes cable TV advertising for a fictional car dealership. Evaluation by a panel of judges will be based on presentation content, overall design and grammar, public speaking skills, eye contact and creativity. The winner receives an internship with ESPN.

ESPN sportscaster David Holmes will be among the judges. Last year, Holmes won the second season of ESPN’s Dream Job reality series by beating out 11 other finalists. As the winner, Holmes earned a SportsCenter anchor contract.

The Disney/ESPN Dream Internship Competition coincides with RIT’s Brick City Homecoming activities. For more information, contact Rob Grow, director of RIT alumni relations, at 475-2601 or rcgrar@rit.edu.
