RIT's Athenaeum Fall Classes Begin the Week of Oct. 17
Rochester Institute of Technology’s Athenaeum, Rochester’s Academy for Learning After Fifty, which has made its home on Fairview Drive since its inception in 1987, will start fall classes in new facilities on Oct. 17.
The first two weeks of classes will be held at a short-term change of location at 300 Canal View Blvd., located off Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road. The educational organization will be moving to a new location in Henrietta at 150 Research Blvd.—where classes will continue on Monday, Oct. 31.
The Research Drive facility—which is handicapped accessible with 12-foot-wide hallways for wheelchair access—will have a reception area, offices, five classrooms, library/conference room and kitchen/dining area. It will serve the organization’s needs until it relocates to a permanent home at River’s Run in a few years.
The fall schedule of Athenaeum courses range from German for Beginners, Foods in History, Looking to Wellness and “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” to Geography in the 21st Century and West Coast Jazz 1945-1965.
Open House sessions for prospective new members will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17-20, at 300 Canal View Blvd. For more information about The Athenaeum or to make a reservation for the Open House, call 585-292-8989.
