Team recognized for community service
John Kaemmerlen, senior lecturer, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a team of undergraduate engineering students were recognized by The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming on June 7 with the 2019 Community Partnership Award for their work with Hilltop Industries, a nonprofit that hires people with developmental disabilities. The students involved include: Maura Hess-Mahan, Anna Powers, Ryan Hare, Carlton Wan, Amalachukwu Anene, Catherine Krawiec, Patrick Finnerty, Hunter Hoffman, Jeffrey Tyssee and Andrew Hayden. The projects -- process improvements for bottle and can recycling and window latch assembly -- were also recognized at the annual CREATE Symposium in Albany, N.Y., organized by the New York State Industries for the Disabled. The recycling project team was awarded $10,000.
