Xerox CEO Anne Mulcahy to Deliver Commencement Address at RIT, May 21
The addition of Mulcahy as keynote speaker adds further significance to this year’s commencement. The event serves as kickoff to RIT’s 175th anniversary celebration, which will be commemorated throughout the 2004-05 academic calendar. It also becomes the first official event held inside the new $25 million field house facility.
In addition to Academic Convocation, RIT’s eight colleges will hold separate ceremonies on May 21 and 22 to confer degrees on more than 3,500 graduates. For a detailed schedule of events, visit the Web at www.rit.edu/commencement.
Mulcahy is hailed for leading a remarkable corporate comeback at Xerox. According to Money magazine, “the company many had left for dead is fast becoming the great turnaround story of the post-crash era.”
Since becoming CEO on August 1, 2001, and chairman five months later, Mulcahy has successfully led Xerox in cutting costs and reducing its debt. Also, a renewed emphasis on research and development has resulted in an impressive mix of new products—from digital copiers to high-volume color printers integrated with service offerings like book publishing and digital archiving.
“There’s a will to ensure that our company not only survives but has an opportunity to become great again,” Mulcahy says.
In 1976, Mulcahy began her Xerox career as a field sales representative and later assumed increasingly responsible sales and senior management positions. In addition to the Xerox board, Mulcahy is currently a member of the boards of directors of Fuji Xerox Company Ltd., Target Corp., Catalyst and Fannie Mae, and is a member of The Business Council.
