Board Governance:
*Works with Board to fulfill the organization's mission.
*Responsible for leading NYDT in a manner that supports and guides the NYDT’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
*Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.

Financial Performance and Viability:
*Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
*Responsible for helping fundraise and develop other revenues necessary to support NYDT’s mission.
*Responsible for the fiscal integrity of NYDT, including submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of NYDT.
*Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintains the organization in a favorable financial position.

Organization Mission and Strategy:
*Works with Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
*Responsible for implementation of NYDT’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
*Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that NYDT can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
*Responsible for enhancing NYDT’s image by being active and visible in the community and working closely with other professionals, civic and private organizations.

Organization Operations:
*Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.
*Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
*Responsible for the effective administration of NYDT operations.
*Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
*Responsible for all compliance programs.

*A Bachelor’s degree (in non-profit Business Administration or Theatrical/Artistic Administration is preferred), or/and three or more years of non-profit administration and management experience in a Deaf theatre company or theatrical education organization.
*Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
*Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
*High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, Board, volunteers, and donors.
*Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.
*A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
*Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
*Basic knowledge of the grant writing process.
*Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
*Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation. Strong commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
*Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
*Past success working with a Board of Directors and the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
*Past success of ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people.
*Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence, including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers.
*Knowledge of and respect for Deaf Culture and American Sign Language.
*Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft, Google, and Accounting applications.
*Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
*Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
